Good-bye 2018

2019 New Year

Good-bye 2018 – my year in all of its glory

This has been a year of preparation and personal development.  I’ve had so many experiences, made new connections, and learned more than I could’ve asked for.  I’m grateful for all of that and more.

Being a parent makes up just one part of me which knowingly and unknowingly shapes me.  It is woven in everything I do – everything that I am.  I live through their challenges which become mine to take on, and celebrate their achievements.  The achievements that most parents may take for granted, but they are ours to enjoy.

The year began with waiting rooms and watching her get a cast removed, then my back gave out during March break, a family vacation (with 4 days of rain), a number of family celebrations, a LOT of food, summer break, courses, tests, case studies, and my kids first day of school.  It was filled with many special moments and memories for the most part.

Then began a wave of changes where the last 3 months have been tough!  There were 2 life changing events (LCEs), 4 funerals, (2 were family), and thankfully 1 beautiful wedding in the middle of it all.  The LCEs shook me to the core and made me question many things.  It stirred up familiar emotions of fear, sadness, and hopelessness…BUT that was all overshadowed by my commitment, relentlessness, and mostly because of my strength which comes from my deep unconditional love for my family.  I’m grateful for the support I received when I needed to pause which helped me survive.  Somehow through it all – the good, the bad, and yes the ugly I stayed focused on what is important: the well being of my family (including me!).  I was able to do it with grace, integrity and compassion.  I look ahead with excitement, anticipation, and determination.

Happy New Year! I wish you and your loved ones a year filled with health, happiness, love and success!
